Things to do in Athens, during the Holiday Season!

  • A short stroll from the Athens Zafolia Hotel takes you to Pedion tou Areos, home to Athens' largest Christmas Village. 

    This beloved holiday destination, cherished by both adults and children, features festive events, games, a carousel, an ice rink, and endless options for Christmas shopping and gift-giving.
  • From December 27 to 30, Athens blends the enchantment of Christmas with the wonder of cinema. Magical outdoor screenings will take place across the city, including the open-air space at the Athens Book Space in Eleftherias Park, the grounds of the Athens Metropolis, and the parking lot of the Lycabettus Municipal Theater, offering a captivating drive-in experience overlooking festive Athens.
  • From December 24 to 26, Syntagma Square, the heart of Athens' Christmas festivities, will come alive with concerts by popular artists, including Panos Mouzourakis, Doros Demosthenous, MIKRO, Idra Kayne, "To Pragma," the Athenian Mandolinata "Nikolaos Lavdas," the MOb Trio, and Zamominia.

    From December 21, 2024, to January 5, 2025, seven city squares will become cozy storytelling havens! Specially designed tents invite visitors of all ages to enjoy countless books for free reading, while the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Athens adds to the festive magic with carols and lively holiday tunes.

  • Athens rings in 2025 with a spectacular celebration at Syntagma Square, featuring the “Taratsa of Fivos.”
    On New Year's Eve, Phoevos Delivorias, joined by Natassa Bofiliou, Thanasis Alevras, Martha Frintzilas, a grand orchestra, dancers, and emerging voices, will present a live musical and theatrical journey through Athens' history from 1945 to 2025. The Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Athens will set the tone for the evening with a festive opening performance.
